Volvos Converge on Culver City

The 2002 WESTSIDE AL VOLVO SHOW

By Dave Hunt

The day started-off at 8 a.m. with Dave Hunt, John Burleigh, Ted Brough and Glenn Suneson caravanning early to help Bill Webb set-up for the Westside All Volvo Show held in Culver City, also on-hand to help was Art Banks, Doug Wilson and others from our club.

Bill and Kathy Webb put together another fantastic regional all Volvo meet. There were cash prize drawings, lots of gift raffles, plus cash/plaques for all of the 1
st, 2nd & 3rd place winners in many categories.

Jim Bisch, owner of Westside Volvo, did another great job of hosting the meet and providing the cash awards and cash for the many raffles. Bill Webb provided the gifts for the raffles and a free lunch for all.

The infamous Volvo racecar driver Ken Rodenbush displayed his award winning racecar and was on hand to answer questions and to sign autographs. Ken is one class act, a friend to anyone in need of help and a great supporter of Volvo activities.

There were over forty-five beautiful Volvos on display, from a 56' P1900 to PV's to Amazons to 140/240/260's, to newer, both stock and modified. A great cross-section of fine Volvos was represented.

The list of 1st, 2nd & 3rd place winners is very long. The list will be abbreviated to Orange County members. That list includes: 1
st place stock 444 to Marsha Dickerson, 2nd place stock 122 to Doug Wilson, 1st place stock 1800S to Ted Brough, 1st place modified 1800S to Ron Portillo, 1st place stock 1800E to Lydia Morrino, 3rd place stock 1800ES to Brad Benson, 1st place stock 140/240/260 to Dan Palmquist, 1st place modified 140/240/260 to Dave Barton, 1800 Masters to Art Banks, P1900 masters (oldest Volvo there) to Dave Hunt. All Orange County members that entered their Volvo were winners (cash & plaque), great job people.

Again, a full-size thank you to Bill and Kathy Webb for their great job in coordinating this grand event, to Art Banks and his fellow judges for handling the judging, and to the very gracious Jim Bisch and his co-workers at Westside Volvo for their part in hosting this great annual event.
