| Atomium, Belgium’s own
exposition building, has been given the form of an iron
crystal, magnified 150,000 million times, 110 m (330
ft.) high, and with escalators between the different

Successful Swede in the world’s most topical country
|
In April Brussels
becomes the world’s center. At that time Expo 58 opens, the first
world exposition since 1939. It’s going to occupy an area 30 times
the size of the world’s biggest square, Place de la Concorde in
Paris. Here practically all nations of the world will exhibit their
goods and show how far they have advanced socially, technically,
scientifically and culturally. Sweden regrettably is not going to
participate, but is taking an indirect active part in the enormous
occasion. A big part of the exposition’s transports will be
handled by Volvo trucks. Belgium is since 20 years ago one of
Volvo’s biggest and best customers. Despite very strong
competition, Volvo’s principal Belgian agent, Société Belge de
Matériel Automobile S.A., has driven Volvo to a top position. Today
Volvo is the leading diesel marque in the Starke-, Viking-, and
Titan classes. |
