3rd Annual 2001 All Volvo Car Show Sponsored by Orange County Volvo

On October 14th Volvo enthusiasts from all over Southern California attended the 3rd Annual 2001 All Volvo Car Show at Swedish Speed Volvo Specialists in Perris, California. We are very grateful to Mark Yarbrough and Ralph Victorio co-owners of Swedish Speed for again providing the venue for this year's great car show. This was a judged event with 45 Stock and Modified Class Awards, 15 Special Awards, and three Best of Show trophies. Over 45 Volvos were present with 30 plus cars judged in Stock and Modified Classes, plus three cars in Master Classes. Officiating the judging was the very knowledgeable and qualified Art Banks and the Show Coordinator was the Orange County Volvo Club President Dave Hunt. The oldest car present was Dave Hunt's 1956 P1900 and the newest Volvo was Michael Gil's 2001 V40. The High Mileage Award went to Bob Skoog's great 1963 1800S with 525,020 miles-Bob is the original owner. Other special awards went to Art Banks from Bakersfield for Longest Distanced Traveled, John Burleigh's 122S for Road Warrior, David Quiroz's 1970 1800E for Lowest Mileage Pre-1975 (47,000 miles), and to Michael Gil's 2001 V40 for Lowest Mileage 1975 & Newer (8,000 miles). Certificate of Appreciation for outstanding service to the Volvo Community went to Bill Webb, Art Banks, Mark Yarbrough and Bob Workman, and the Sponsorship Award to Swedish Speed. Models that were most represented were 1800S's, 1800E's, and 1800ES's (12 cars), 240/260 series (10 cars) and 122's (5 cars). The balance of Volvos were a variety of PV's, 700's, and front wheel drive models. |
