The SDVSA web site (www.sdvsa.org) is up and running again! Our web master,
Jeff Perry, is working on some ingenious improvements. A new feature is a library of over a
100 articles from past issues of
1800 NEWS! Listed in chronological order from 1996 to the present, you just find the title and/or the author and click, and like magic, the whole article appears on your screen! Jeff told the nine members who attended the October 10 General Meeting that our most requested page is "Annonser" (ads)! Jeff is also trying to put a list together of member's email addresses. They will be posted on the SDVSA web site under sdvsamail@sdvsa.org. If you have an email address, please forward it to Jeff at jp41@home.com.
Kurt Sievert, out unflappable Membership Coordinator, reported a decline in out roster to 65 paid up followers, down by about ten individuals. |
Of course, Swedish Speed, and Mark Yarbrough and Ralph Victorio, played the role of the perfect hosts yet again. The surprise guest of honor was Bryon Farnsworth, PR spokesman for Volvo, who coordinated the very successful 40th Anniversary of the 1800 car at Laguna Seca in August of this year. By the way, 2002 represents the 75th year of the production of Volvo cars (1927 - 2002), so all bets are on some kind of celebration at the Pebble Beach Concourse or Monterey Historical Races next August. There were plenty of awards handed out for all model Volvos, stock and modified, and everyone received at least one raffle prize. The SDVSA extends its appreciation to all the people involved in the planning and execution of this great event! We also wish to thank Dave Barton for his rundown of this event on page 5 , as well as the "Red Rock Rendezvous", the Cactus Chapter VCOA West Coast Meet, on page 6. November's "Nursery" Tour again demonstrated
Mark Jankowski's vast knowledge of the highways and byways of San Diego County. Talk about a scenic drive!! And the weather was perfect for our "mature" cars (and twenty or so participants) - sunny, but not too hot. Besides the four 1800 coupes (one masquerading as a Toyota Tacoma) and one ES, we had the P1900, two 120 wagons, and three 240s join our cross-country caravan. Jeff Perry wore his "club historian's" hat, and snapped a number of pictures, which we hope to share with our members in December's
